From the 6th-7th of July 2024, the STREETMEDIA SOCIAL saw 50 people gather from all over the world in the streets of Nottingham.
The STREETMEDIA SOCIAL is our annual event, and attempt to bring together athletes and artists from all over the globe to build up communities, as well as the many social circles that our diverse Parkour community has ties with. We are constantly inspired by the talent that surrounds us, and want to provide a space for people to network, share ideas, and be SOCIAL.
If you attended, thank you. You have been a part of the journey for our future events, and we are already planning V3…
DAY ONE
THE STREET JAM
AUDITORIUM
The first of our three locations for the day, we have Auditorium. We all met up here and by 12:30pm we had amassed around 40 people at our beloved 'Audo' spot.
This classic Notts location spreads out over a huge area, consisting of an amphitheatre style seating arrangement, lots of parallel walls, rails, and weird little challenges. We saw some stuff go down here that we have been waiting to see people have a go at. Namely, some beefy sideflip precisions, a huge running precision, and people making use of a scaffolding setup right in the middle of the spot.
We were glad to see TJ (@hyperdemxn) doing some funky shit on the stair sets to finish, and as the clock hit 1:30pm, we announced to move to the next location of the day.
CHAINS
After gathering a little over 50 people from Audo, the group moved to Chains, the second, maybe even more iconic location of the day.
Chains aka IBM aka Pre Triangles has long been a meeting location over the years for anyone training in Notts.
The name 'Chains' comes from the fact that all the gaps here used to have thin, rusty chains separating anyone who fell onto them from a 3-story drop to concrete. Not exactly the most trustworthy of surfaces to bail onto! Although for the past 7 years or so, the death drops have been covered by solid wood decking.
During the time we had at chains, we saw the Joe Williams (@joebergine), Nael (@nael.pk), Rimvydas Bružas (@sidefliprim) and more cooking some tasty lines up. And of course TJ (@hyperdemxn) threw some of his own personal twists into the spot.
After the time approached nearly 4pm, we decided to move the group to the final and ultimate location of the day: Forest.
FOREST
After a near 30-minute walk with the group, we arrived at the final location, and easily the best of the three.
This spot is iconic for anyone in the North, with people regularly travelling to it from all over the UK. Seen in many old school SM videos, Forest has a special place in our hearts.
The spot itself features perfectly placed parallel walls, on a gentle decline down a long hill. Truly a classic British favourite. The uniqueness of the spot also stems from the cut corners on the walls, the many angles you can approach the spot from, and all the challenges you can do as a result.
The energy was amazing at Forest. For many people, this was their first time here. We were so happy to see so many incredible people training in a location so close to our hearts.
At 6:30PM, we gathered everyone for the prize handouts. Each member of SM chose their one person based on personal taste in movement, dress sense, and vibe during the street jam. We handed out our 8 prizes to the winners, and enjoyed the final few moments at this incredible spot.
Now we had a new mission: The Afterparty
THE AFTERPARTY
The afterparty is an important part of the SM SOCIAL. Providing a place for people to celebrate after the day, with a full sound system setup and SM's selected DJ's is something we want everyone to experience that attends the SOCIAL.
The group travelled by train or car to Novacity Rotherham ready to begin the official SM SOCIAL afterparty.
By 9:30pm, most had arrived, and the night begun with a set from our hero Sam Coppack (@samcoppack). Playing a soulful set of drum and bass and hip hop, it was a perfect way to start the night as more people started arriving at the afterparty.
Next up, our returning DJ Arfa (@arthurfranks_). We were gassed to have Arfa back in the house. The set begun at 11pm, and we saw him playing some signature soulful garage and bass music.
And finally, at 12am, we had the one and only Joe O'Brien (@earwigjoe) back on the decks. Finishing the night with some heavier drum and bass, dubstep, bass and 140 to keep the people going.
The afterparty wouldn't be possible without the help of our incredible DJ's, providers, and supporters. A massive thank you to everyone who turned up! 💞
DAY TWO
INDEPENDENT BRANDS AND ARTISTS POP UP SHOPS, FOOD STALL & NOVACITY JAM
Our second day is all about the talent that we find ourselves surrounded by every day in our circle. We are lucky enough to know some incredibly talented people running clothing brands, businesses and creating art.
We had 8 amazing independent brands/artists set pop up shops for the day, all in the UK's biggest and most iconic Parkour gym.
Our chosen brands/artists were carefully selected to showcase products and creations from both inside and outside the Parkour community. We pride the SM SOCIAL on being a place where talent can network, and provide a space for brands and artists to grow.

SPECIAL THANKS
We owe a massive thanks to the Novacity team, and especially Sam Coppack, who saved the day by being a last-minute manager for the building overnight.
Also, a huge thanks to Henry from Arc Audio (@arc__audio) for hooking us up with a last minute and awesome sound rig.
The biggest thanks, however, goes out to all of you who attended the event. We could not run this event without the support of all of you. You have helped us create future products, events and projects, and we cannot thank you enough!
TO FINISH
To have our second event go so well is a dream come true. To see so many friends old and new in one place, celebrating this amazing community that we have and networking for the future, is what the SOCIAL is all about.
Thank you all for another year of memories!
